Here at Thatcher’s, we are sincere about embracing organic, artisan concepts: quality ingredients, small-batch goods that are crafted with care and reflect passion and expertise, and the continuation of tradition. And we know that restaurants, pubs, and bistros that choose to use our products feel that way too, which is why we are happy to share their unique stories.
Zu Can’t Sit With Us, but you can! At least at Craft A’fare Social Kitchen (Cask Social) in Tampa, Florida.
‘Zu’ is one of Cask Social’s many handcrafted cocktails, featuring Zu ‘Bison Grass’ Vodka, our Organic Elderflower Liqueur and Carpano Bianco, a dry vermouth. The combination of the herbaceous and slightly fruity vodka, the fresh dew and floral notes of Thatcher’s Organic Elderflower Liqueur, and the classic taste of the dry vermouth make one amazing cocktail concoction.
Luckily for you, Cask Social has an amazing food menu to complement their libations. Sharables like Tuna Tartare; served with house-baked lavoche crackers, and a twist on the classic Caprese dish; made at Cask Social with green tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and balsamic reduction, are just a few of dishes you can start your meal with. This isn’t a place that caters to the cheap eats and three dollar drinks crowd. It’s very much restaurant first, with a emphasis on craft – cocktails and food. Farm-to-table concepts are reflected in the Southern roots of their dishes, while remaining accessible to a big city crowd.
Cask Social is the brainchild of Tampa native, TJ Miller, a long time industry professional who spent much of his time at a corporate gig in Washington D.C. While the 9-5 grind wasn’t the path he was destined to take, his time in D.C. did inspire him to open Cask Social. Noting the lounge-like atmosphere and vibrant nightlife of Washington D.C. area hotspots, he instantly knew what Tampa was missing in their restaurant scene.
Returning in 2013 with the plans and concept in his head, but not the capital, he happened to meet professional football player Vincent Jackson. He was on board immediately with the Southern style cuisine and vibe and they begin to hunt for the perfect venue. Bringing on Adam Itzkowitz, TJ’s friend and experienced restaurateur was the last missing element that Cask Social needed to launch. The rest, as they say, is history.
Delicious, delicious history.
